Built in 1955 by famous amateur figure skater and businessman F. Ritter Shumway, the Skating Institute of Rochester (SIR) is located on the southern edge of downtown. Originally, this was the RIT rink and home to the Genesee Figure Skating Club.
Today, a wide range of Hockey Teams play and practice here. Teams from Aquinas, McQuaid, Penfield, Lima, Webster and Honeoye Falls, among others, call this rink their home. In addition to hockey, you will find figure skaters and ice dancers ages 5 to 65 skating here every day.
We have the best ice in town, come find out for yourself!
The Skating Institute of Rochester is a not-for-profit organization and we need your support to remain open. Please plan to attend our gala fundraiser scheduled for June 20. Click here to find out more.
